AGAR Active Break is a potent, non-perfumed cleaner designed for commercial kitchens and food processing areas. It attacks heavy deposits of grease, animal fats, smoke residue and protein. You can apply it by spray, mop, foam or manual scrub. It is effective in both cold and hot water, though warm water improves performance.
Typical applications include walls, floors, ovens, griddles, fryers, exhaust hoods, ducting, stainless steel surfaces, butchers’ rooms, abattoirs and food processing zones. It should not be used on aluminium unless heavily diluted (below 1:100) due to the alkaline strength.
Key Benefits / Features
Highly reactive alkaline formula that penetrates and dissolves fats, greases and protein films
Non-perfumed (no masking fragrance) — suitable for food areas
Effective in both hot and cold water
Suspends smoke, protein and fat residues for easier removal
Versatile application: spray, mop, foam, manual scrub

| Storage space | Small footprint | Needs more storage room, safe bunding |
This product is corrosive to skin and eyes. Wear chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection and face shield when handling.
Avoid inhalation of mist or spray. Use in well-ventilated areas or with extraction.
Prevent contact with aluminium surfaces unless heavily diluted (≤ 1:100) to avoid corrosion.
Always add chemical to water (not water to chemical) when diluting.
Do not mix with acids, bleach or strong oxidisers — may generate heat or hazardous gases.
If contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
Use corrosion-resistant pumps, lines and containers (e.g. HDPE, stainless steel) for dispensing.
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and ignition sources.
Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use.
Bunded secondary containment is recommended (floor bund) to catch leaks or spills.
Store away from acids, oxidisers and foodstuffs.
Do not store below freezing or above recommended temperature (check SDS).
Use first-in first-out (FIFO) stock rotation to ensure freshness and consistent quality.
Because AGAR Active Break is a strong alkaline cleaner, it is fairly tolerant of moderate water hardness. However:
In very hard water (high calcium/magnesium), some alkalinity may be lost in reaction with hardness ions, reducing cleaning efficiency.
For best performance, use treated (softened or deionised) water or water with hardness in the “moderate” range (e.g. <200 ppm CaCO₃) if possible.
If your water is very hard, increase the concentration slightly (within safe limits), or use a water softener / scale inhibitor.
Rinse thoroughly after use to avoid scale deposits.
For light duty cleaning, use 1 part Active Break to 80–100 parts water. For heavier soiling, use 1:40. For spray/wipe tasks, use 1:10. For stubborn grease, use neat to 1:5 dilution.
Yes, but performance can be reduced under very hard water. For best results, use softened water or moderate hardness (below ~200 ppm) or adjust concentration slightly.
It can be used on floors, walls, ovens, griddles, stainless steel benches, exhaust hoods, ducting, butchers’ rooms and food processing plant equipment. Do not use on aluminium unless very diluted.
